Pointsec for PC provides full disk encryption for Windows computers. Full disk encryption offers complete protection for all data on the system regardless of where it is stored on the disk. Data on the disk can only be accessed through the use of a private key stored as a password protected file on the disk. A pre-boot login manager allows authorized users to login to unlock the key, boot the operating system, and access the data.
Pointsec for PC at UC Berkeley is funded centrally through Information Services and Technology (IST), and is provided free of charge to any campus department requiring a desktop encryption solution for protecting sensitive or restricted data. Desktop encryption licenses for Windows Mobile devices and Linux operating systems are available from Pointsec and may be purchased on request. |
